Risk Disclosure

The risks of engaging any blockchain investigation service, including this one. Read this before you spend money on an investigation.

What are the risks and limits of blockchain investigation?

Blockchain investigation carries stated limits: recovery is not guaranteed, analysis depends on third-party data that can be incomplete, attribution is inference rather than observation, and outcomes depend on parties ChainwatchCrypto does not control. Nothing produced is legal advice, and no engagement guarantees a particular legal or financial result.

Recovery is not guaranteed

Blockchain tracing identifies transaction activity. It does not recover assets. Engaging ChainwatchCrypto, or any investigator, does not make recovery likely, probable or certain.

You may pay for an investigation and receive a well-documented report that does not lead to recovery. That is a normal outcome and you should assume it is the likely one.

Analytical limits

  • Mixing and pooling constructions can end a trace permanently.
  • Cross-chain transfers cannot always be matched with confidence.
  • Blockchain data alone cannot identify the person controlling an address.
  • Off-chain activity leaves no ledger record and cannot be reconstructed.
  • Attribution can be wrong, can age, and can be disputed.
  • Risk scores are indicators, not determinations.

Dependence on third parties

Any outcome beyond the report depends on parties we do not control: exchanges deciding whether to act, law enforcement deciding whether to investigate, courts deciding whether to order anything, and other jurisdictions deciding whether to cooperate. None of these can be predicted from the analysis.

Time sensitivity

Funds move. An intervention point identified today may not exist next week. Delay reduces the chance that a trace ends anywhere useful, which is why we prioritise triage on active incidents.

Fraud risk in this market

The digital-asset recovery market contains a substantial volume of fraud, much of it targeting people who have already lost money. Before engaging anyone, including us, verify independently, refuse any guarantee of recovery, and never provide seed phrases, private keys or device access. See Protect Yourself From Recovery Scams.

No advice

Nothing on this site or in a report constitutes legal, financial, tax or investment advice. Decisions about litigation, reporting or settlement should be taken with qualified professional advice in your jurisdiction.
