Match against what is published.
Screening against published designation lists, with the list, its version and the match basis recorded on every result — because a screening hit you cannot evidence is worse than none.
What is crypto sanctions screening?
Crypto sanctions screening checks whether an address is controlled by a sanctioned party or exposed to one indirectly through intermediate transactions. Direct exposure means the address itself is listed. Indirect exposure means value reached it through a sanctioned counterparty, and the number of hops involved determines how material that exposure is.
Four steps, all recorded.
List ingestion
Published designation lists are ingested and versioned. Every version is retained.
Normalisation
Designated addresses and identifiers are normalised to the platform's schema.
Matching
Direct address matches and exposure-path matches are evaluated separately, never conflated.
Result
A result records the list, version, match type, matched value and hop distance.
A direct match and an exposure match are not the same thing.
| Type | Meaning | How to treat it |
|---|---|---|
| Direct match | The screened address itself appears on a published list. | Unambiguous. Verify against the publishing authority before acting. |
| Exposure match | A designated address appears in the screened address's exposure path. | A prompt to review, not a determination about the screened address. |
| Identifier match | A declared name or identifier matches a designated party. | Name matching produces false positives. Always reviewed by a person. |
| No match | Nothing observed against the ingested list versions. | Not a statement that no designation exists anywhere. |
What screening here does and does not establish.
Before you act on a designation match, confirm it against the authority that published it. This platform tells you what it observed against an ingested list version; the authoritative record is the authority's own.
